Anambra – It seems that the stakes for the APC Anambra guber race just got raised as the former governor of the state and presently Minister for Labour, Senator Chris Ngige may soon be throwing his hat into the race.
This was disclosed from the meeting of Anambra guber aspirants which held yesterday under the auspices of the Jim Nwobodo Committee.
Ngige who arrived at exactly 10.52 pm, went straight to the meeting venue where he again reiterated that though he had said earlier that he wasn’t interested in running for the office of governor, he would change his mind if the powers that be urged him to.
This however did not create any angst amongst the aspirants as news already had it that the bearded politician was interested in running for the position.
Ngige had earlier informed the general public that he would not be running for the office of governor. He said he preferred to focus on his appointment as Minister for Labour.
One aspirant who craved anonymity described Ngige’s voltaface as unbecoming of a statesman, he however reaffirmed that he was still in the race and would not pull out now because of Ngige’s show of interest.
“Who are the powers that be? This is fiction, Ngige simply wants to contest and should stop dropping the name of President Buhari” the aspirant said.
Ngige was one time Governor of Anambra State, 2003-2006, on two occasions 2010 and 2013 he made unsuccessful attempts to return as governor of the state.
