Anambra Govt Spends Over N7Bn On Community Infrastructural Development

Anamnbra State government has expended over seven billion naira on infrastructural development of communities and markets in the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy, Ogbuefi Tony Nnachetta, made this known in a post-EXCO briefing in his office at the Jerome Udorji Secretariat, Awka.
Ogbuefi Nnachetta noted that so far, twelve communities are yet to complete the first phase of the twenty million naira choose your project initiative, due to some problems arising from within such communities, urging them to hasten up with the work so as to access the second tranche.

The Commissioner said that one hundred and forty- five communities have commenced the second phase, while thirty-four communities still lag behind.

He recalled that the sixty- three recognized markets in the state were given ten million naira each for any developmental project of their choice.

In education, Ogbuefi Nnachetta noted that Anambra has been adjudged the best in terms of eradication of exam malpractice with three per cent malpractice rate.

The Commissioner announced that any student that graduates with First Class Honours will be given automatic employment upon graduation in line with government’s decision to employ teachers massively this period.

He said that government has concluded arrangement to introduce a one pattern of fencing of compounds along the old road from Amansea to Onitsha Bridge Head and called on those who own shanties and mechanic workshops along the road to dismantle them as the government plans to give the state a face lift.
