Protocol
Ndi Nne Anambra, I am very delighted to celebrate this special annual day of Motherhood with you. I am informed that the theme for this year’s celebration: Nigerian women carriers of living water to a world that taste for peace was adapted from the World Union of Catholic Women Organization (WUCWO), and it is very important and timely. The theme highlights the role of mothers as disciples of goodwill and evangelization. In fact there is no other group better placed to carry the message of peace which is now a scarce commodity in many parts of our country and indeed the world. We are called on, not to lose faith but rather persevere.
As you all know, the strength of motherhood is tested every day in the face of struggles for survival. But we also know that as mothers we can muster the will for triumph. As we celebrate let us remember that our country is beset by internal strife which has displaced many from their homes; whether in the North East, Middle Belt, and some part of South East or the Niger Delta, women bear the brunt of such internal displacements. Let us therefore remember them in our prayers and whenever we can, lend a hand of assistance.
Once more I wish to emphasize the need for mothers to persevere both in prayers and hard work. In my position as Mama Anambra, I remember you in my prayers as well those sisters in the face dangers. I also use the platform of my NGO, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFÉ) to improve the fortunes of our less fortunate citizens. You may wish to know that we have so far successfully intervened by training and empowering 3600 women and youths in various trades. We have built and handed over twelve houses to indigent widows, treated and rehabilitated 62 mentally challenged persons at our Home in Nteje; constructed 15 modern toilets in rural markets as well as 21 boreholes in communities across the twenty-one local Government Areas of our state. Etc.
I can only request that you also remember me and my family in your prayers. Many of you can attest to the good intentions and hard work of our Governor. Let me assure you of his commitment to the welfare of all and positive transformation of our state. I have no doubt that God will answer your prayers and meet all our needs.
Thank you and God Bless.
Chief (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano
